Let’s keep this delicious ball rolling with another skin loving recipe from Cat Woods.  I made this for lunch today, and it tasted like summer on a plate.  Later in the day I used up the leftover ingredients and made a smoothie.  If my day didn’t have to be G Rated, I would’ve whipped up a Mojito with them instead.

Watermelon, Raspberry and Mint Salad
Serves 4
Ingredients
½ cup hazelnuts;
1/3 cup water;
¼ cup fresh lime juice;
1 tbsp. raw honey; (optional)
1/2 small watermelon, rind removed, cut into chunks;
1 cup raspberries;
1 1/2 cup strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced;
1/4 cup fresh mint, shredded;

Preparation
Preheat your oven to 350 F.
Spread the hazelnuts over a baking tray and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
Place the roasted hazelnuts on a clean towel and rub to remove the skins. Chop them coarsely.
Stir together the water, lime juice, and honey for 5 minutes in a saucepan placed over a low heat. Set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, combine the watermelon, the raspberries, the strawberries, and the mint.
Drizzle the fruit with the lime sauce and gently toss to combine.
Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts on top and serve.

Not only is Cat a nutrition aficionado, but she loves a bit of beauty too.  If you’ve checked out her blog, Core Integrity With Cat, then you’ll see, that just like me, she’s quite the product junkie and loves to share her thoughts on her latest beauty finds.  She has kindly reviewed some Australis goodies for us, and in doing so has made my makeup wishlist a shitload longer.  Thanks Cat…

I am a makeup maniac.  Love it.  There’s an awful lot of it out there though, and just like food and exercise, books and films, some are to your taste and some are better for you and some are deeply dangerous and harmful to people, animals, the environment and the world generally.  I’m not perfect, but I am conscious of making easy choices where they are on offer.  Makeup that is Cruelty Free means I can choose not to use products that are tested on animals – it doesn’t cost any extra and it doesn’t come at the cost of quality either.

Why wouldn’t you?

To that end, I love an affordable, gorgeously packaged and ethically approved product that is easy to use, easy to store, and flexible: you can use it for eyes, cheeks and lips. My new makeup bag (and handbag, and gymbag!) staples are the new Australis Velourlips shades.  The original shades were killer and I became an addict.  The matte lip cream goes on with a lipgloss style applicator, then lasts for hours – even defying coffee, lunch, water bottles and a gym session.  I particularly love rosy mauve shade Lun-Dun, gentle coral pink Ho-Chee Min, and carnation pink Mi-A-Mee. I like to pair my matte lip with a shimmer on the cheekbones and along the upper lash line.

In the sunlight, the Australis Mineral High Lights, gives a gorgeous glow and in the office or out to lunch, you’ll have a subtle ‘lift’ to your face that emphasises the angle of your cheekbones, especially with a touch of bronzer or blush for contour.  Darker skin shades should go for the Gold High Lights, but my pick is Pearl as I have naturally fair skin and dark hair.

Sold.  Thanks to Cat for her contribution this week – hopefully it’s not the last time we hear from her.  She’s made me eat better this week, and I finally discovered why fresh raspberries are so expensive – they are the most delicious fruit I have ever tasted and I now need them in my mouth everyday.  Damn.  Anyhoo, I’ll be back to talk my usual shit with you next week, so get excited about that.  Until then, feed your skin with beautiful food, and go buy some lippy.

Kind Beauty Points : Australis is certified Cruelty Free and the products featured are vegan friendly.
